There is nothing better than an evening spent with a good read in one hand and a delicious cocktail in the other. Scroll down for seven delicious cocktails inspired by your favorite classics. Next time you head to book club, impress your friends with one of the yummy recipes below!

The Adventures of HuckleBerry Gin (and tonic)

8 ripe blackberries, plus 2 more for garnish

1/2 oz fresh lime juice

1 oz simple syrup

1 1/2 oz gin

2 to 3 oz tonic water

Muddle the blackberries and lime juice in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and add simple syrup and gin. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds. Pour into glass with ice and top with tonic water. Next time you're out for an adventure, pick some blackberries for your end of the ride gin and tonic!

Madame Bovary's Sweet Escape

1 oz vodka

1/2 oz green chartreuse

1 oz pamplemousse liqueur

1 oz pineapple juice

Dash of Peychaud's bitters

Squeeze of lime

Shake all ingredients in a shaker and pour over crushed ice and garnish with mint, raspberry, and pineapple.

Escape whatever it is in your provincial life that you're currently unhappy with by drinking a few of these cocktails!

Mr. Hyde's Secret Serum

2 oz vodka

2 oz cucumber & watermelon extract

1 oz Elderflower Liqueur

1 Watermelon Cube

 

Shake all ingredients in shaker with ice and pour into a glass. Everyone has two sides. Try out Mr. Hyde's Serum and let your Dr. Jekyll run wild!

H. P. Lovecraft's Cosmic Old Fashioned

2 oz Bourbon

Dash of Gomme Syrup

Dash of angostura bitters

One large ice cube

Garnish with an orange peel

Lovecraft's stories are grim, fantastical, dark, and horrifying... to get through them, you will need a drink that is a classic, just like Lovecraft.

The Cocktail of Innocence

1 oz gin

1/2 oz Rose-Infused Cocchi Americano

1/2 oz Crème de Pêche

Top with sparkling rosé

Mix gin, Cocchi Americano and Crème de Pêche in a shaker. Pour in a tall glass and top with rosé.

This cocktail screams innocence...until you take a sip.

Northangover Abbey Cocktail

1.5 oz gin

¾ oz Lillet Blonde

1 oz orange juice

Dash of bitters

Orange peel

Shake gin, Lillet, juice, and bitters with ice and strain into a glass. Garnish with orange peel.

Although it appears innocent, two of these cocktails could bring you straight to Northangover Abbey.

Bloody Mary Shelley

5 oz vodka

2 dashes Worcestershire

4 dashes tabasco

4 oz tomato juice

¼ oz lemon juice

Lemon slice + celery stick

Combine vodka, juices, sauces, and salt and pepper in a mixing glass with ice and roll to mix. Strain into a pint glass filled with ice. Garnish with lemon slice and celery stick.

Uncle Tom’s Cabernet Swizzle

1.5 oz Cabernet Sauvignon

1 oz White rum

1/2 oz Orgeat

1/4 oz ginger syrup

Heavy dashes of bitters

Pour first four ingredients into a shaker with just a few pieces of cracked ice. Shake. Pour contents into a tall glass filled with ice. Mound more ice on top to form a dome. Dash heavily with Peychaud's to appear like a snow cone. Garnish with a mini kebab of grapes and candied ginger.
